Few Words About SFgrill

Sf Grill started in 2008 as a popular stand at the Divisadero Farmers Market.  Here SF Grill became a fixture in farmer’s market culture selling house sausages and burgers.

Business evolved into a brick-and-mortar space, Bistro SF Grill, on California Street in November of 2011.  Here the signature burgers continued to be served alongside newly added Balkan wines and beers.  Soon after, the catering business was established and SF Grill started serving the corporate community in San Francisco and the Bay Area.

In 2017, Bistro SF Grill moved to Noe Valley.  The business expanded with a new menu focused on Balkan flair and hosted local musicians and artists.

Bistro SF Grill was featured on KQED television’s “Check, Please! Bay Area.”

During the pandemic, the restaurant served thousands of not-for-profit meals to the neighborhood.

Due to the harsh realities of the pandemic, the restaurant permanently closed in September of 2021. The catering business moved to a new location, and has been operational since.   I am happy to extend the SF Grill legacy and do what I love the most! Thank you all for all your continuing support.

Pre-COVID, such a lovely restaurant with a lot of charm and delicious food. The owners and staff are welcoming, and the wine selection is amazing with some fun wine flight options. Often a pleasant live band in the evening. I always enjoyed going here. During-COVID, a delightful neighborhood market with a wide selection of pantry goods, wine, pre-made delicacies and cooking items (many made in-house). Plus take-home meals provided at cost to support those in the neighborhood who might need some help. Truly a gem. Highly recommend stopping by now, and in the future.

Great atmosphere and food. The only reason for 4 stars is the food could use a little more flavor. But the pictures do not do it justice we sat in the window and had a lovely cozy dinner. The wine list was great and they had bottle of wine deals. Our waiter was very attentive and he even sung along with the pianist beautifully.

I REALLY enjoyed the food! Me being a meat eater and my wife a vegan we have some struggles finding places to accommodate both of us. We didn't look any further when finding Bistro SF Grill. Everything from the starters to the entrees was very tasty and it would take multiple visits to try out this menu. To top it off we had live music. GOOD STUFF!!

Showed up without a reservation on a Saturday night and got bar seating, which was a blessing in disguise because of great conversation with the barkeep! $20 wine tasting was excellent, as was all the food we ordered. Ambience on point for date night with live music. And very reasonably priced.

Since COVID-19 lockdown in March 2020, it's no longer a bistro, but more of a bodega + deli. Unable to operate as a restaurant, they pivoted to selling quality food - some basic staples such as organic milk, cream, cheese, yogurt, pasta, cookies, fruit and wine. They still have a goulash to die for to go, plus lots of yummy housemate sauces and dips. It's a great addition to the neighborhood and they seem to be thriving with the new model. That said, I'll welcome the return of a great little Eastern European restaurant and live music of/when it comes...

Been here a few times already and this is my favorite place in Noe Valley. It's everything a neighborhood restaurant should be. The menu is very well done with great variety and something for everyone. Prices are very reasonable for SF. And the best part is the service, the folks running things make you feel like family.....we have always been made to feel really welcome here. Love it! Like

We had delicious sauteed Brussels sprouts, juicy lamb and beef burgers (they also have salmon and veggie), thin, crisp fries, excellent fish entree, swoonworthy chocolate cake. Soft live music. Be aware the place is tiny and you might need a reservation.

My favorite in Noe Valley. Incredibly friendly and polite service, live music and great food. Beef stew is my favorite there, especially after a long day at work. Pair it with beer on tap or a glass of simple wines from Croatia or Bosnia and boom.

First day in the city when I was walking through this side of town. I was blown away with the cafe-esk vibe that was being provided by a pianist and cellist playing in the corner. That's what drew me in and I'm glad I sat and enjoyed myself. A quaint hour of good food and chill music. I would recommend taking your girl here for a quick bite. Phenomenal food.

his is a great little Bistro. This place is right next to Tataki and run and managed by the owners. They have a vast selection of interesting burger options at pretty good prices. If your in the neighborhood and want another option of where to eat, this is a pretty good choice. My second time here and they now have their alcohol license, so I could have a beer with my food. They also have a good selection of good eastern european wines.

A really wonderful place! My dad took me for the dinner with live music, which they have every night. Went back the next afternoon with my boyfriend for the wine tasting. It really is a chic, but not pretentious, place with a neighborhood feel.

My experience with this place went from ok to awful. The first time I was there, it was ok - they were friendly-ish but the service was below standard, food arrived randomly and main course followed on appetizer by like 2 minutes. Second time, gave it another chance, similar experience but was left to sit and watch three other tables that came in after our group, get waited on and served drinks AND in one case an appetizer! all before our table even got water glasses or an order in. Third time was a complete disaster, so awful it is hard to describe, but we witnessed the staff/owner drinking wine behind the bar and that may have played into the behavior... whatever the reason, it was unacceptable. Have never returned. (Note, these were pre-covid visits).

I love this place first and foremost for their vegan options, all of which are clearly marked on the menu. I'm a big fan of the vegan polenta, lentil curry burger, hummus plate, and asparagus. They also have a great selection of wine and beer, Turkish coffee, and regular live music. The atmosphere is cozy and old-world, and the waiters are charming and will remember you and welcome you back if you're a repeat customer, which is nice. If they had a vegan dessert option, this would be my dream restaurant. That said, I'll welcome the return of a great little Eastern European restaurant and live music of/when it comes...

Wonderful private event at Bistro SF Grill last night. We hosted a benefit fundraiser at this lovely restaurant - seating 50 people in a very intimate setting. The staff was very professional and the food was excellent! Their wine list and beers are local to the Balkans which many of our guests enjoyed. We couldn't have pulled off such a smooth event without the owners helping and the servers being so attentive - they ensured all the guests had a great time and many are very eager to come back! We would highly recommend considering SF Bistro Grill for your next company event / fundraising event or whatever else you might need! That said, I'll welcome the return of a great little Eastern European restaurant and live music of/when it comes...

We had such a lovely dinner here this evening. We split the vegan mushroom risotto and the Adriatic plate. I got a glass of red wine from Croatia and my boyfriend got a Chardonnay from Argentina. Everything was absolutely delicious and came out very quickly. We'll absolutely be back again. The restaurant is half market, half restaurant with refrigerators of pre portioned sides and meals (we got the paella to have for lunch tomorrow) and shelves of jarred spices, pickled snacks and a broad variety of wine from all over the world. The indoor seating is pretty compact, definitely call ahead for a party over 2 people or order to go (they price meals a few dollars cheaper if you're ordering take out). Great Mediterranean/Balkan food. Definitely check it out!

What a great find. This place is authentic, unique and has a great almost-funky vibe. We were seated next to jazz pianist playing that night, and he was great. We had such a good time, chatting with the pianist and owner, that we didn't leave until after closing time! Terrible service. Waited 15 minutes when we first arrived to get a glass a water. Had to ask for silverware and napkins. Messed up 2/5 orders at my table. $0.50 for each tiny sauce jar - and no ketchup on the table for fries. Seems a bit nickel-and-dimey IMO. Venison burger was dry and bland. That said, they do have an interesting selection of meats. Aligator, boar, venison, buffalo. Great Mediterranean/Balkan food. Definitely check it out!

It's a small place with a nice atmosphere and good food. The negatives? I wasn't ten bites into my salad before my dinner came which to me is just pure laziness on the servers part. You're supposed to either time it right or ask- hey shall i put the main course in now? They also put a big salad on a small plate which is a personal pet peeve because as soon as you dig in, everything spills over the side. But I will say one thing for the cook, he/she sure knows how to cook a carrot right 👍😎

A cute little spot to quickly get your craving for a nice burger (and beer) at a good price with little to now wait. They have a TV to watch SF sports games and the entire restaurant sometimes gets into it. I wish they would ask how you want your burger cooked as they usually cook them well done but it's still really good and so are the curly fries. 🙂
